Key to Successful Dieting – Friday "Free Days"

[ad_1]

If you are going on a long term (8 weeks or more) diet, you should consider giving yourself pre-planned "diet vacations."

My parents tried a popular diet and found that they could not limit their calories for an extended period. My dad would crave a slice of chocolate pie and my mom would long for French fries. They could not work these into their low calorie diet. So, they declared "Friday Free Days." My dad's primary day off was Friday, which is why they chose to make this their diet vacation day. But giving yourself a weekend day off works just as well.

If you are going to try the "Friday Free Day" concept, you have to understand that it is not about going wild one day a week. It is however a way you can break free of the diet routine. Knowing yourself one or two "forbidden" or high calorie foods one day a week is really good idea on some diets. The vacation diet works for two reasons. First, it allows you to incorporate your favorite foods into a diet that is otherwise low calorie and healthy. This keeps you from getting burned out on carrot sticks or feeling stripped in general.

The second reason that "Free Fridays" help you is that it gives you one day a week where your calories spike. This means that your metabolism will stay high. One of the side effects of a low calorie diet is that your metabolism slows down. But having a calorie spike one day a week will "trick" your body into thinking that it needs to burn a lot of calories all the time. Having a "day off" from your diet every week can help keep you motivated and losing weight.

Beef Tongue For Weight Loss

[ad_1]

Tongue is the tenderest and leanest cut of beef. Great for a diet if you can get past the idea of it. It’s high in proteins and nutrients. That is why it is getting so popular. I remember they used to just about give it away till its popularity cause the price to go up. A four pound tongue costs about fifteen dollars now, about the same as family or cube steak.

There is a few tricks to it if it is your first time. You need to start by scrubbing it with a brush. Then place it in cold water for a few hours, make sure you change the water a few times

Get a pan large enough for the tongue and the vegetables. Place carrots, celery, garlic, rosemary or thyme (optional) in the pan. Put the tongue in on top of the vegetables with the skin on. It’s easier to remove the skin after its cooked. Cover with water to a level about two inches above the tongue. Don’t boil hard as this will make it tough, but simmer it for three hours.

You will probably will want to skim off the top a few times during the cooking. When done cooking remove the tongue and place in cold water for just a few seconds so you can handle it. Use a knife or pair of scissors to remove the skin. Place on a platter and slice cross ways to desired thickness. Place vegetables around the tongue and serve.

My friends dad cooked one one time and when it was cool he took a 64 oz. jar of sweet pickles, removed all the pickles and put the in a bowl. He then put the tongue in the pickle juice. He let it set for a few days. When I was over my friend gave me a piece to try, I was very good. I need to fix it that way some time.

Sweet Sixteen Party Traditions

[ad_1]

A Closer Look at Sweet Sixteen Party Traditions

A sweet sixteen party is the perfect time for traditions. Maybe you have some that have been passed down through your family, or maybe you are looking for new traditions to start. For a bit of history, the term sweet sixteen has been in use at least since 1597. The sweet sixteen birthday parties have been held since 1765. That is a long time for many traditions to develop.

The following is a list of traditions that can be incorporated into any sweet sixteen party ideas that you may be planning:

The Father-Daughter Dance

This tradition is also frequently performed at most weddings. Have the birthday girl choose a song that is special to her and her dad ñ maybe there is a favorite childhood memory attached and mom could tell that story and introduce them onto the dance floor.

Shoe Ceremony

This is like a Cinderella moment for the birthday girl. Sit the honoree in a chair while her grandfather, uncle, godfather, or father approaches her with high heels on a decorative pillow. Traditionally, she should be wearing flat shoes, and her father ceremoniously helps her into her new high heels. This is a symbolic transitioning from childhood into womanhood.

Tiara Ceremony

This one is similar to the Shoe Ceremony, except the father/grandfather brings a tiara instead of shoes. The tiara is placed upon her head to symbolize her becoming a woman. This tradition could be combined with the Shoe Ceremony with mom bringing high heels on a pillow and dad bringing the tiara on another pillow.

Candle-Lighting Ceremony

Choose 16 tapers to set out on a table in pretty votive cups. The birthday girl could light her first candle from one large candle that symbolizes her parents or family. The first candle is for the girl’s parents. The second candle is for brothers and sisters. If she is an only child, then this candle can represent her grandparents. Candles 3, 4, 5 and 6 are for the remaining family friends. At any time the honoree can tell a story about the individual she is lighting a candle for, or say why they are special to her. Candles 7-14 are for special friends. Candle 15 is for her best friend. The 16th candle is reserved for a significant male, such as a boyfriend or very good friend. A 17th candle could be added to represent good luck.

These are just a few suggestions to get you started on great sweet sixteen party ideas. Enjoy!
