Key to Successful Dieting – Friday "Free Days"

[ad_1]

If you are going on a long term (8 weeks or more) diet, you should consider giving yourself pre-planned "diet vacations."

My parents tried a popular diet and found that they could not limit their calories for an extended period. My dad would crave a slice of chocolate pie and my mom would long for French fries. They could not work these into their low calorie diet. So, they declared "Friday Free Days." My dad's primary day off was Friday, which is why they chose to make this their diet vacation day. But giving yourself a weekend day off works just as well.

If you are going to try the "Friday Free Day" concept, you have to understand that it is not about going wild one day a week. It is however a way you can break free of the diet routine. Knowing yourself one or two "forbidden" or high calorie foods one day a week is really good idea on some diets. The vacation diet works for two reasons. First, it allows you to incorporate your favorite foods into a diet that is otherwise low calorie and healthy. This keeps you from getting burned out on carrot sticks or feeling stripped in general.

The second reason that "Free Fridays" help you is that it gives you one day a week where your calories spike. This means that your metabolism will stay high. One of the side effects of a low calorie diet is that your metabolism slows down. But having a calorie spike one day a week will "trick" your body into thinking that it needs to burn a lot of calories all the time. Having a "day off" from your diet every week can help keep you motivated and losing weight.
