Lose Abdominal Fat the Right Way

Movie stars, fitness gurus, and MMA fighters all have two things in common: their bodies are the most emulated, most desired forms on the planet, and they all prominently display a well-toned set of six-pack abs. If you’re one of the millions of people all over the globe trying to refine their look, get in the best shape of their life, and obtain an impressive, movie-star worth set of abs, then it’s absolutely essential that you pick strategies that are proven to yield results. While there are countless ways to lose abdominal fat correctly (involving cardiovascular exercise, ab workouts, diet, and strength training), there are several things that you should NOT do.

1. Spend thousands of dollars on a fancy home gym or piece of equipment: Due to the large demand for products that claim to help you achieve flat abs, there are literally thousands of products that are designed to maximize your results. Unfortunately, sound dietetic and nutritional science dictates that there is no “miracle” or “shortcut” way to get a six-pack. The only way to effectively achieve results is by reducing the amount of fat in your body and making sure that your abs are strong and toned enough to stick out from under your skin. While these fancy pieces of equipment certainly do help you work out your abs, there’s literally a thousand cheaper ways to do the job just as effectively, and none of these pieces of equipment really bring anything new to the table.

2. Focus entirely on your abs: When people want flat abs, the first thing that they tend to go out and do is crunches, crunches, crunches. While this is certainly effective for toning your abs, it won’t necessarily help you lose abdominal fat. Working out a specific set of muscles does not result in a loss of fat in that area. Rather, you need to get regular cardiovascular exercise and perform strength training in every area of your body, which will help lower your body mass index and eliminate that last layer of stomach fat.

3. Neglect your Diet: You’d be surprised how many people spend hours on long, complicated abdominal workouts and then go and eat a slice of cheesecake. What you eat directly contributes to how much abdominal fat you have. If you want those abs to show, then you need to eat a diet that’s rich in fruits and vegetables and cut out those high-calorie foods.

If you avoid these three common pitfalls, then you’ll lose all the abdominal fat that you desire. Just keep up the good work!
