Is the Chocolate Diet a Dieter's Dream?

[ad_1]

A dieters dream is the chocolate diet. It's very appealing since it includes a favorite food of most people. Not only are you allowed to have chocolate, but you can have pasta and popcorn. Lenny Neimark penned the book "The Pasta, Popcorn, and Chocolate Diet." The diet is listed below. You eat the same foods everyday. You can use different sauces for the pasta, so you do not get bored.

For breakfast you should eat fresh fruit, fruit salad, or shredded wheat with non fat milk and strawberries.

For a morning snack you can have popcorn or fruit.

Lunch should include a salad, pasta salad, or spaghetti. Only use low calorie dressing for the salads.

Afternoon snack is popcorn, vegetable sticks, or a fruit smoothie. Mix 1/2 frozen banana, 1/2 cup frozen peaches (or other fruit) and 1 cup skim milk in a blender.

Dinner should be fettuccine with garlic tomato sauce, whole wheat pasta primavera, salad, and steamed vegetables. For your evening snack you are allowed to have some popcorn or 1 oz of chocolate. But that's an either / or choice, not both.

All through the day make sure you still drink plenty of water, carbonated water, or mineral water. You do not want to get dehydrated, and this alone helps boost many people's metabolisms to help them lose weight.

Items you can not have during the Chocolate Diet are alcoholic beverages, salt / sodium, oils, sugars, avocados, coconuts, olives, raisins, dates, figs, red meats, chips, cakes, nuts, dairy (except what's in your smoothie for your afternoon snack), and caffeine, soda. So, if you can give up certain other foods you love in order to have chocolate, the Chocolate Diet is for you.

Everyday Diet Tips

[ad_1]

Gone are the days of home cooked meals and healthy food everywhere you go. It's been replaced with food off an assembly line and greasy drive-through burgers. We all turn to the quick and easy because no one has the time or patience to cook all day. Most people work more hours than they should and are not in the mood to spend the night in the kitchen. So we turn to the simple, unhealthy alternatives. The desire to switch your eating habits can be hard to commit to. It can be difficult to figure out exactly where to start. Here are a few tips to get you on your way.

You do not have to completely eliminate fast food. A lot of people enjoy eating it and it can be hard to cut it out of your diet forever. But if you reduce it to only once a week, you're really helping yourself out. When you forbid yourself from eating something, it makes it much harder to avoid it. But if you know that you can have it every once in a while you're less likely to slip up and indulge. If you make healthier fast food choice as well, it makes it that much better. Choose a salad instead of a burger or get your chicken grilled instead of fried. This cuts back on massive amounts of calories.

When people are hiring up the drive-through, they tend to choose diet soda because they think it's better for them than the regular version. Many of us have a single regular soda a day but then go crazy when it comes to diet. But diet sodas are loaded with artificial sweeteners which have a ton of their own negative effects. It's better to limit these to once a day as well. dietitians have always said that we should not drink our calories. Drink water or unsweetened teas in place of sugary sodas.

Alcohol is another source of hidden calories that most of us do not think about. Mixed drinks and cocktails can have loads of sugar and calories that can undo an entire day's worth of good eating. Moderation is something that should come into play here. You do not have to completely cut out these drinks, but limiting them to only one of two on the weekends can help you get rid of the calorie laden beverages.

Pizza can actually be a great food when trying to eat healthier. It may seem surprising but when you break it down and look at the ingredients, it's not so shocking after all. Pizza with whole wheat crust gives you a serving of grains that most of us tend to skip over. Tomato sauce is rich in antioxidants and other nutrients. Cheese, so long as it is not covered in grease, is a great way to get some dairy and calcium into your diet. When it's topped with veggies, it's all over a pretty good choice for healthy eating.

A good way to cut down on snacking before waiting for meal time is having cut up fruits and vegetables on hand and ready for everyone to enjoy. Many of us find ourselves raiding the pantry when dinner is on the stove, simply because we can not wait any longer. When you have healthy snacks available, it eliminates the empty calories and helps you eat less at meal time. It's a great healthy switch from the usual chips and candy bars.

Even though the majority of the world is sticking with fast food and junk meals, you do not have to be. You can make some simple changes that can be better for you and your family for years to come. Starting these habits today can help improve your life significantly. It can also encourage your kids to eat healthier and help them lead better lives. Start making some changes today and you'll find yourself a lot better off.

Type II Diabetes Diet

[ad_1]

The type II diabetes diet has become of utmost importance today because of the prevalence of type II diabetes, not just in the United States but throughout the world. The more populous countries of the world – India and China – have seen a tremendous increase in this disease mainly due to their adoption of the American fast food diet. In addition, because of the growth of the aging population in this country, it is now estimated that this disease will affect one in four people here.

This has prompted the growth of an entire industry to service the needs of these folks. This industry is comprised of, but not limited to:

– Pharmaceutical companies

– Medical practices geared exclusively to the treatment of diabetes

– Support groups

– Specialized dietitians

– Organizations such as the American Diabetes Association

– Journals aimed at diabetics

– Foods

– Television shows

– Books by authors espousing their life and experiences as diabetics

– Etc…

With the exception of a few of the above items, the overriding message throughout for diabetics is that they must pay much closer attention to their type II diabetes diet. They must also become more active by participating in some form of physical activity, whether it’s walking or doing more intense exercises such as interval training.

The topic of type II diabetes diet seems to be an ever-changing subject with only a few publications getting it right. Recently, a well- known television personality came clean by declaring that she was diabetic. This was after years of demonstrating how to prepare meals which were laden with everything a diabetic was not supposed to consume.

The proper type II diabetes diet should be made up of what is labeled as primal foods. These are foods in their most natural form without any adulteration by additives such as artificial sweeteners or flavors. For example, apples should be eaten as is and not be part of a pie. The same goes for countless other types of natural foods.

Some of the foods that should be consumed in a type II diabetes diet include:

– Fish prepared with as little seasoning as possible

– Chicken

– Organic fruits and vegetables in their natural form

– Butter and not margarine or butter-like product

– Organic eggs and not egg by-products

– Natural cheeses

– Sweet potatoes (of course without any added sugars)

The above diabetic food list is by no means exhaustive but should be a considered a major part of the diabetic diet menus. The emphasis should be on consuming good proteins and carbohydrates in the proper proportion for your body type.

Foods to be avoided at all cost are bleached products such as rice, bread, sugar, flours and salts. Any carbohydrates in their unnatural form should be removed from the type II diabetes list. Even breads labeled as whole wheat should be avoided.

What can diabetics eat? This should be the question every diabetic need to consider each and every day if they want to live a life free of complications. The list above is a good start.

One of the areas where there is a huge vacuum for diabetics is eating out. Restaurant food, in general, offers the total opposite of what should be on the type II diabetic diet. Here is an opportunity for a creative restaurant owner… start an eatery that caters to diabetics!! A place where diabetics as well as the general eating public can go to enjoy natural foods prepared in a healthy manner.

It is sad to see how this disease has ravished so many people and homes. There are people who cannot travel overseas because they have to do dialysis three times per week. They are virtual prisoners in their communities.

If you look around your city you can easily spot the person who is diabetic. They are the ones who have to administer insulin several times per day. They are people who have lost limbs because of the effects of peripheral neuropathy. They are overweight and sluggish. They sweat profusely and need to drink water constantly. They need to go to the bathroom often. The list goes on. So much of this could be prevented by following a proper diet and exercise program.
